Beijing Shijitan Hospital (the formerly Beijing Railway General Hospital), founded in 1915, and affiliated to Capital Medical University in 2004, is celebrating its centennial anniversary! As the Capital Medical University Cancer Center and the Ninth Clinical Medical College of Peking University, it is one of the well-established top level comprehensive tertiary hospitals, integrating mediccal treatment, teaching, researching and prophylaxis in Beijing. In 1989, the hospital achieved the first national approval of top grade class A hospital. Over the years, it has received numerous accolade, including beeing named as One of 100 best general hospitals in China by the National Ministry of Health, One of Top Ten Hospitals by Ministry of Railways, the Baby-Friendly Hospital by the World Health Organization (WHO), and Double Top Ten People's Hospitals by Beijing Municipal Health Bureau. In 2008, Capital Medical University authorized the establishment of Faculty of Oncology and Cancer Center, which comprises 9 clinical departments, 1 cancer research lab and 1 translational research center, staffed by renowned oncologists. Leveraging key platforms such as Beijing Key Lab of Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines, the Cancer Immunotherapy Research Center, the Beijing Cancer Institute of Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine, the Phase I Cancer Drug Clinical Trial Center, and the Central Lab.
